For 16 Rockingham County Virginia high schoolers, it’s the current events ride of a lifetime! Canoeing 355 miles down the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers to the Chesapeake Bay is far more than a fun and exciting summer journey — it’s a great new way to highlight the harm water pollution is doing to our rivers, streams and Chesapeake Bay.

Immerse yourself in the great outdoors without leaving your desk. Tap into the sights and sounds from a wide variety of environments throughout America.  PBS has collected over 1400 video clips that enable you to experience America's wilderness firsthand.  Browse through their selections on animals, ecosystems, plants, and more.  Hike the Tijuana Estuary, go on a whale watch, or follow Glacier Bay rangers perform their unique duties in some of the world's most beautiful surroundings.  Teacher resources include lesson plans that weave segments of video together into units of inquiry around specific topics.  The lessons in the units of inquiry were all written by high school teachers and draw upon national and state standards for science learning.
